Xinjiang: Younger Cultural Heritage Experts

The cultural department of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region recently announced a list of 85 living inheritors of local intangible cultural heritage. Department officials said their average age was younger than those selected before and they are expected to be the main force keeping time-honored culture alive. The region now has 521 inheritors that each receive 4,800 yuan in subsidies annually.
