The Urumqi State High-tech Industrial Zone's Intellectual Property Office, in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, held an advisory conference on March 9, to help qualified companies apply for a State High-tech Enterprise title.
The conference was led by Liu Dongwei, director of the intellectual property office. Participants included representatives from 35 local high-tech enterprises and four technological service organizations.
The meeting focused on application procedures and policies, and related accounting, tax, and research budgeting information.
Liu said that in the previous year, technological development funds in the district had increased by 28.9 percent, to 128 million yuan ($21 million); 30 National High-tech Enterprises were added; and the number of patent applications surpassed 1,000 for the first time.
