The Music Copyright Society of China recently announced that it had total licensing revenue of 112 million yuan ($18.5 million) last year, 82 percent of which had been redistributed to copyright owners. The revenue came from many businesses, including the press, broadcasting, hotels, retail sales and the Internet. Performance licensing took the largest share in the revenue, contributing more than 50 million yuan. The total revenue was 42.5 million yuan in 2009.
