Liuzhou has applied for 911 patents during the first seven months this year, with a year-on-year increase of 32 percent. This includes 385 invention patents, up 145.8 percent from 2011.
Liuzhou has carried out 102 projects in applied technology research and development, with a total funding of 68.52 million yuan ($10.8 million), accounting for 83.88 percent of the annual budget.
Among the projects, 75 are part of the 400-Billion in Three Years supporting plan, utilizing 86.7 percent of first round financing.
Liuzhou has received more science and technology funding from the government and the autonomous region this year. As of August, the city’s special fund surpassed historical records to reach 92.5 million yuan ($14.68 million).
