Chinese entertainment company Huayi Brothers Media Group recently sued Guangzhou Qianqi Animation Co Ltd and Beijing Wangfujing Bookstore for alleged copyright infringement.

The dispute arose after Qianqi Animation developed both online video and board games based on the Huayi Brothers movie The Message. The board game is sold in Wangfujing Bookstore.

Huayi Brothers claims the games use characters, plots and images from the movie without authorization.

The filmmaker is asking for 500,000 yuan ($78,550) in compensation from the two defendants.
