China's first self-developed high-strength aluminum alloy round bar production line recently entered service after almost five years of development.

Yunnan Aluminum Co Ltd said the operation can produce 40,000 tons of aluminum alloy annually that will greatly reduce China's dependence on imported products.

The line uses Italian casting and rolling technologies that the company acquired and improved through its own innovations.
