Police in Cangnan city have detained two gangs for producing phony alcohol packaging and labels.

The crackdown found 13 illegal production sites and seized more than three million counterfeit packages, trademarks and labels for expensive liquors such as Kweichow Moutai.

Police estimated the faked goods would have generated revenues of more than 2 billion yuan if successfully brought to market.

The operation also produced bogus ID equipment, police said.
