The government of the provincial capital Shijiazhuang recently increased funding of individual awards to encourage commercialization of patented technologies from 100,000 yuan ($15,770) to 300,000 yuan.

Funding for other advances in science and technology will also increase, with awards of up to 50,000 yuan available.

The yearly awards were founded in 1999 to boost innovation and the low-carbon economy.
