Almost 1.4 million patents were filed by China's electronic information industry this year, the most from any high-tech sector, Yang Xueshan, deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, told a conference in Chengdu.

He added that the ministry is using an intellectual property strategy to push industry transformation during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015).
