Health foods offer the agriculture sector the greatest potential for economic growth, said experts at the inauguration ceremony for China's first health food industry alliance, which was held at Tianjin University of Technology on Nov 18.

Deputies of five science institutions, and representatives of 17 companies and eight universities, participated in the event.

With strong technological backing from pharmaceutical companies and universities, the alliance plans to create well-known brands with intellectual property rights as well as advance the city's health food industry.
