More than 20 officials, scholars and industry insiders from the Chinese mainland joined a recent cross-Straits forum on copyrights in Taipei.
"Despite the differences in legal systems and specific ways of operation, we have the same target in copyright protection," Tang Zhaozhi, a senior official at the National Copyright Administration, said at the forum.
Mei-Hua Wang, head of Taiwan's intellectual property authority, said the rapid development of the Internet poses a growing challenge to copyright protection.
Experts from Renmin University and Fu Jen Catholic University discussed the development of copyright protection systems on both sides of the Straits.
The annual forum was founded in 2008.
