More than 150 patent applications were filed as a result of the project to develop satellite HY-2, which was launched from Taiyuan on Aug 16, according to experts at the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
Technical breakthroughs included high-precision satellite control, long lifespan parts and microwave remote sensors to capture ocean data.
The project promoted development of satellite research and management while strengthening innovation capacity in the nation's space industry, said experts.
