An inauguration ceremony was recently held in the provincial capital Hefei to mark the beginning of China's production of components for an international nuclear reactor, part of a joint effort in research and engineering to build the world's largest and most advanced experimental nuclear fusion reactor.
China will contribute about 10 percent of the work on the project. Its first batch of components, all using home-developed materials, will be delivered to the project in the south of France at the end of this year.
The project also includes the European Union, India, Japan, Russia, South Korea and the United States.
