The Sichuan government recently added 127 protected items to the lists of protected intangible cultural heritage.
Twenty are from Chengdu, capital of the southwestern province. They cover traditional music, dance, folk arts, crafts, food, medicine and customs.
Six traditional techniques related to making Chengdu cuisine are "of significance to promote the southwestern city as a gastronomic capital".
Chengdu now has 19 items certified as national cultural heritage and 66 on the provincial list.
