Chongqing: Night Raid on Homebrew Factory

The city's industry and commerce law enforcement officers recently closed a brewery making and selling counterfeit branded beers after seizing more than 20,000 cases of brew with potential wholesale value of 400,000 yuan ($60,000).

Two production lines at the factory were filling recycled bottles with homemade beer when officers swooped in late at night.

The operation violated the trademarks of eight breweries based in Qingdao, according to enforcement officials.

"The packaging showed they were authorized by the breweries (but were not) - the use of recycled Tsingtao bottles is a typical infringement," officers said.
