Manzhouli customs recently seized more than 500 items of fake branded Adidas sportswear intended for export to neighboring Russia.

Customs officials said it was the largest case in the city since a special campaign against intellectual property (IP) infringement began late last year.

Near the borders of both Russia and Mongolia, the city now has systems in place to rapidly respond to IP violations in foreign trade.

More than 100 seizures of fake goods in the past three years - ranging from garments and shoes to suitcases and watches - by customs officials had a potential retail value of over 8 million yuan ($1.21 million).
