The Workshop Tour on Registered Community Design co-held by SIPO, the Office of Sino-Eu IPR Protection Program (2nd Stage) and the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM) was conducted in Hangzhou. Li Yuguang, Deputy Commissioner of SIPO gave a speech.

Mr. Li pointed out, as the most significant trade partners, China and Europe need the effective patent systems for our bilateral trade and investment. However, there was still a gap of design between China and developed countries, especially European countries. He expressed that one of the factors that influenced our application to Europe for design protection was that our enterprises had no acquaintance with European design systems. If the enterprises want to improve our competitive power in European market, we should learn more about the design systems.

During this workshop, European experts introduced the community systems and how to apply and protect design patents in details in Europe. The experts of SIPO introduced the differences of design systems between China and Europe, in order to have more acquaintance about its design systems.
