HK to Hold Int'l Conference on Intellectual Property

The 2010 International Law Enforcement Intellectual Property (IP) Crime Conference will be held in Hong Kong from Oct. 19 to 21, said co-host Hong Kong Customs on Wednesday.

It is the fourth in a series that is held as a yearly event and the first to be staged in Asia.

Under the theme of "Working Together to Break Organized Crime", the conference will bring together about 400 participants with a stake in IP protection from different parts of the world, according to the press release.

"Through this conference, we will not only let the participating members know the efforts made by the law enforcement officers collectively around the world in protecting IP rights, but also take the chance to enable them to share and learn from each other, laying a solid foundation for future co-operation in the face of new challenges", said Hong Kong Customs' Assistant Commissioner, Tam Yiu-keung.

The conference will provide a good opportunity to show to the world Hong Kong's commitment to IP protection and to help promote Hong Kong as Asia's world city, Tam added.
