Authorities in Inner Mongolia autonomous region have stepped up efforts to encourage creation of intellectual property and applications for patents.

Some 22,685 applications have now been filed in the autonomous region, with 13,002 patents granted.

By the end of 2009, 1,349 invention patents had received nearly 2.8 million yuan in financial aid, with cities including Baotou, Hohhot, Chifeng and Wuhai adopting policies to provide financial support for patents.
