Beijing: Fake Turbochargers Seized at Market

Forty-three fake automotive turbochargers, worth more than 40,000 yuan, were confiscated by Chaoyang district bureau of industry and commerce in a raid on Monday.

The fake turbochargers, which were found in two private stores during the authority's visit to Shenghua Automotive Parts Market near the East Fourth Ring Road, were labeled as Garrett, an American brand.

The fakes, which could be identified from either their packaging or their poor quality are usually 50 percent cheaper than the genuine items and will actually damage cars, according to Zhu Yuanquan, legal assistant from an intellectual property rights agent.
