Hong Kong: Seizure of Pirate Exam Copies

A batch of suspected photocopies of previous examination papers produced and copyrighted by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) was seized in a recent raid of 14 tutorial centers and an office by Hong Kong Customs.

Four men and four women, ranging in age from 25 to 57, were arrested. Thomas Lin, Group Head of Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau of Hong Kong Customs, refused to confirm at a press briefing Friday whether one of those arrested is famed tutor K. Oten. But the tutor admitted his involvement to media, saying that it's a "misunderstanding".

Lin said the seizure, including 12,000 photocopies and 7,000 DVDs, is valued at HK$3.8 million.
