Primary and middle school students have filed more than 3,000 patent applications with local authorities in the last two years.

Through efforts to improve awareness as part of basic education and science activities, authorities said they have generated enthusiasm for innovation in local youngsters.

Last year, the Tianjin intellectual property administration cooperated with city departments in education and science and technology to mount an invention and design contest for youth. It received more than 2,000 entries.
