Jiang Nanyun, an expert with a fiber inspection institution in this southern province, has been granted a utility model patent by SIPO for his invention of illuminable clothing.

Developed using the principles of the LED lighting and optical fiber, the clothes can become luminescent in darkness, according to the inventor. Lighting can be controlled with a hidden switch in the clothes.

In addition to applications in the fashion industry, lighted fabric can be used in clothing that carries warnings such as those needed in industry or by highway workers.
