The State Intellectual Property Office is collecting information on innovation patents granted in 2008 and the number of PTC (patent, trademark and copyright) applications in 2007 and 2008.

Shanghai has 2,808 innovation patents and 287 PTC applications, totaling 3,095.

The 980 patents from the city's Pudong New Area account for 32 percent of all patents in Shanghai.

The 102 PTC applications in Pudong New Area account for 36 percent of Shanghai's PTC applications.
