Guangzhou Passes Legislation to Bolster IPR Protection at Exhibitions

Guangzhou passes the Measures on Protection of Intellectual Property Rights at Exhibitions in the city's 87th Executive Session of the 13th Administration.

The 28-section Measures include a dual-track dispute resolution mechanism.  Namely, on the one hand, exhibition organizer may deal with the dispute on the basis of preexisting contracts.  On the other hand, government authorities may step in to take enforcement actions.  Right holders are required to record information of their rights with the organizer who shall then display the information for public attention.  Possible disputes will be warned.  In view of the difficulty of discovering evidence, organizer is required to assist in collecting evidence and to provide proof of facts, etc.
