The World Pharmaceutical Industry Patent Database, developed by the Guangdong Intellectual Property Office for its Sichuan counterpart, is operational.  Dividing into five sub-databases, traditional medicine, bio-medicine, natural medicine, chemical medicine and medical equipment, the database contains 240 technical subjects and is free for the use by Sichuan pharma industry. 

The database is partly Guangdong's response to SIPO's circular on relief to the earthquake-hit province and partly upon the demand from the Sichuan Intellectual Property Office.  Guangdong Patent Information Center engineers the project and will continue offering real-time tech support and routine upgrade to the database.
