Sino-U.S. Seminar on Internet IPR Law Enforcement and Protection Held in Nanjing and Shanghai

 

Jointly sponsored by the IP Joint Conference Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government, IP Joint Conference Office of Shanghai and the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai, the Sino-U.S. Seminar on Internet IPR Law Enforcement and Protection is recently held in Nanjing of Jiangsu Province and Shanghai respectively. Both sides discuss the problems such as the investigation and prosecution of internet IPR crimes and the collaboration among related departments in the cooperation of internet IPR protection.

At the Seminars, Chinese representatives briefly introduce information related to the efforts of China's judicial departments in investigating and prosecuting internet IP crimes, the working process and major tasks of procuratorate departments, and specially introduce some typical cases of internet IP crime. The U.S. representatives talk about the judicial system in the United States, the reasons for launching criminal lawsuits against internet IP cases and the major characteristics, prosecution targets and investigation measures of such cases. They hope to strengthen law-enforcement cooperation with Chinese side in evidence preservation and mutual recognition of evidences.

The two parties also conduct full exchanges in the identification of the evidences of internet crimes, penalty criteria of IP criminal cases in the United States, whether IP criminal private prosecution is allowed, value assessment of the goods related to IP crimes and how to deal with counterfeits and imitative products.
