Beijing IPR Reporting and Complaint Service Center (Beijing 12312) recently holds a seminar with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and CCPIT Beijing on jointly compiling the Manual of IPR Protection for Enterprises Participating in Exhibitions Abroad (hereafter referred to as the Manual).

At the seminar, head from related department of CCPIT notes that as the approval authority for enterprises to participate in overseas exhibitions, Exhibition Administration Department constantly attaches importance to IPR protection of enterprises participating in overseas exhibitions, actively launches various trainings, strengthens the examination upon exhibition organizers and improves exhibitors' awareness of IPR protection. The frequent IP disputes related to Chinese enterprises participating exhibitions in countries such as Germany and France not only damage the enterprises' reputation and interests, but also influence the development of exhibition industry. In this sense, measures should be taken to guide exhibitors and exhibition sponsors to establish the concept of holding harmonious exhibitions, and strengthen education to related enterprises on IP information so as to improve their preventive consciousness and self-protection capacity.

Related head of CCPIT Beijing says that the seminar's goal is very clear, that is, to help enterprises improve their protection awareness and increase their capacities of responding to disputes. Under the circumstance, various departments should give full play to their respective resource advantages to strengthen coordination and communication.

Guided by the Compendium on China National IP Strategy and the Scientific Outlook on Development, Beijing 12312 makes enterprises the principal part of its service and sets the goal of solving their practical problems. It also adopts various special measures to help protect IPRs of enterprises participating in overseas exhibitions and make it a focus of its work. The center is also to compile the Manual with the goals of strengthening the construction of internal IP systems of enterprises, increasing their IPR protection awareness, improving their capacities to respond to disputes and constructing the overseas IP early warning mechanism of "protection through prevention."
