2007 Forum on Pharmaceutical Innovation R&D and IPR Protection of China is scheduled to be held on October 18-19 in Beijing. Sponsored by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and held by Intellectual Property Publishing House, the forum means to promote the innovation in China's pharmaceutical science and technology, improve the level of IPR protection and utilization, increase the awareness of IPR protection of China's pharmaceutical enterprises and institutions, and strengthen China's international competitiveness of pharmaceutical industry.

The forum will focus on topics such as Research on Domestic and Foreign Laws and Regulations of Pharmaceutical Patent, Practice of IP Management and Tactic of Patent Protection of Pharmaceutical Enterprises, Drugs Influenced by Patent Law Modification and Enterprises' Countermeasures, and Different Extracts From Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Utilization of Geographical Indications in Patent Protection of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The forum will invite veteran lawyers of medical specialty from the American Bar Association, experts from pharmaceutical enterprises and renown experts from the SIPO, the State Food and Drug Administration, famous pharmaceutical enterprises and patent agencies to deliver speeches. Major leaders of some of China's major colleges and universities, scientific research institutions, large and medium-sized pharmaceutical enterprises and medical and hygienic organizations, researchers of drug R&D and high-level staff of intellectual property are also invited to participate in the forum.
