The founding Ceremony of the IP Workstation of Tianjin Arbitration Commission and the Appointment of Amiable Compositeurs was held at the IP Administration of Tianjin recently. ZHANG Shengru, Director of the IP Administration of Tianjin, LI Shuying, Director of the General Office of Tianjin Arbitration Commission attended the ceremony and made remarks.

ZHANG Shengru noted in his remarks that the founding of the IP Workstation of Tianjin Arbitration Commission is of great significance in that it is an integral component to support the administrative agencies and the People's court in handling IP cases and that it provides an effective and convenient avenue in resolving IP disputes. The IP Administration of Tianjin established the Tianjin Office of the Leading Group of IP Protection, the IP Working Meeting of Tianjin People's Government, IP Complaint Center, IP Service Center, Judicial Expertising Center, IP Information Center for Environmental Protection, National Patent Technology Exhibition Center and mostly recently IP Workstation of Tianjin Arbitration Commission, greatly enhancing coordination and service capability in IP protection in Tianjin while creating a favorable environment for IP protection in the city.

LI Shuying announced the Decision on Establishing the IP Workstation of Tianjin Arbitration Commission and the Decision on Appointing Amiable Compositeur by Tianjin Arbitration Commission and issued certificates and offer letters to newly recruited amiable compositeur. He also talked about the basic rules of arbitration and related information on amiable composition.

JIANG Ming, Head of the Division of Policy of Legal Affairs of Tianjin Customs addressed the meeting on behalf of all newly-recruited amiable compositeur. He said that a dispute resolution system with arbitration and litigation running in parallel is more suitable for resolving economic disputes between market participants that have good credit and wish to establish long-term business relationship. Amiable compositeur are committed to having a good start by handling every case properly and promoting amiable composition in IP.

As China is pressing ahead with its construction of an innovation-driven society, disputes over IP among all participants will increase at an even faster speed, having an impact on the normal production and operations of businesses and greatly restricting their growth and social progress. Amiable composition provides a fast, efficient and cost-effective resolution to disputes while minimizing conflict in a more peaceful way. After its founding, the Workstation will provide better protection of the legitimate rights and interests of IP right holders and contribute to the promotion of technological innovation and the development and opening of a new coastal area.
