Recently, the special project entitled the "Bio-diesel oil ---Jatropha curcas L. (Gao Tong)" of Prof. Xu Jihong of Yunnan University won the Gold Award of "Pairs International Invention Exhibition" at the 2007 Paris International Invention Exhibition.

The Paris International Invention Exhibition was held from April 28 to May 8, 2007 in Paris, France.  This exhibition is on the lips of men and women in France.  In order to publicize and display the invention fruits of China's independent innovation through this window, China Association of Inventions carefully screened the projects  for application and exquisitely organized the country's technical innovation fruits in recent years and displayed them in the exhibition.  An appraisal committee composed of 25 experts and scholars was set up and they worked for 11 days.  Of all the awards created by the exhibition, China won 4 Gold Awards, 15 Silver Awards, 8 Bronze Awards and 1 Encouragement Award.  The projects of the Chinese Delegation on display in the exhibition involved: energy, industry, chemical industry, electronics, construction, machinery and other fields.  They included not only occupational inventions, but also non-occupational inventions.  The Chinese projects on display at the current exhibition had had high technical contents.  They had all been granted national patents.  Many projects have realized industrialization in China, achieving admirable economic and social effects.  And most of the projects have potential markets in Europe and were especially highly favored by the professionals.  Therefore, the Chinese projects on display were well-received by the exhibition's organizing committee and the appraisal committee.

In this exhibition, the "Bio-diesel oil --- Jatropha curcas L. (Gao Tong)" project that won the Gold Award was very popular among the projects on display.  Experts from the Appraisal Committee visited the China Stand 3 times and conducted an enquiry in details about the project.  This project has important strategic significance to China's energy structure and sustained development.  Its dissemination and plantation will be conducive to accelerating the pace for forestation, raising the quality of forestry, protecting the ecological environment, preventing soil erosion and increasing the farmers' incomes.  Today, bio-diesel oil is the hot point for the development of new energy internationally, and is a good substitute for chemical and petroleum fuels.  While using bio-diesel oil as a substitute for diesel oil, the diesel engine needs no renovation.  Besides, the storage, transportation and use of bio-diesel oil is safe (not corrosive to containers, not inflammable and not explosive), the heat value is high (usually may reach 80 percent of chemical and petroleum fuels) and the materials can be reprocessed.  In the exhibition, some professionals expressed their great interest in this project, hoped they can go to China and make a study on the site and further contact the inventor for technical and trade negotiation.

It is learnt that it was strictly forbidden to take photos of the other's stands as is stipulated by the organizing committee of the exhibition.  This stipulation had forcefully protected the legitimate rights and interests of the inventors, guarded against pirated editions and plagiary, let the inventors had a feeling of safety in the standardized environment of legal protection in the exhibition.  This had also protected the conversion of the invention fruits.
