A report by IFI Claims Patent Services showed Chinese mainland companies registered 34 percent more US-granted patents in 2019, the strongest growth among major economies. As a whole, the United States ranked first. It holds a 49 percent share of US patents granted in 2019, followed by Japan and South Korea. China surpassed Germany for the first time to rank fourth, according to the report.
