The Xinjiang Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision rolled out a series of new standards for World Standards Day on Oct 14. Three of the standards are related to mulberry-bark paper, a national intangible cultural heritage item and popular souvenir sold in Hotan, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Formulating local standards for mulberry-bark paper will enhance intangible cultural heritage protection and boost local tourism, an official at the bureau said.
