Hunan's intellectual property administration and its economic and information technology commission have rolled out an annual list of 100 technological projects for commercialization and the industrialization of patents. The projects cover a variety of sectors including rail transportation equipment, engineering machinery, new materials, new energy equipment, artificial intelligence and sensors, traditional Chinese medicine and agricultural machines. Local authorities initiated the annual program to advance the commercialization of 100 patents in 2013. Government data showed that 41.2 percent of the patents in Hunan had been industrialized by 2017, ranking the province second nationwide.
