An expert group focusing on vegetable technologies at the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants, also known as UPOV, held a key meeting in Beijing on Monday. Applications for new plant varieties in agriculture topped 3,840 in China last year, enabling the country to outgrow the European Union and become the largest filer of new plant varieties among UPOV members.
