Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as COMAC)rolled out its large airliner C919 on Nov.2nd. "It is our mission to develop large commercial airliner with proprietray intellectual property rights. The large aircraft, honored as pearl of the modern manufacturing industry, is the central embodiment of industry and science of a nation." Said Jin Zhuanglong, the president of the company.
   
"C919 is the first commercial trunk airliner developed in line with the latest international civil aviation airworthiness standard. The airliner has proprietary intellectual property rights. The research personnel have made breakthrough in 40 key technologies, addressed over 100 technical problems and abtained over 170 patents." said Wu Guanghui, the chief designer of C919. According to Wu guanghui, technical personnels in 22 provinces and cities, 200 companies, and 36 universities across the nation have been involved in the R&D of C919. For example, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (hereinafter referred to as AVIC) has accumulated lots of technologies on aircraft research and manufacturing, and its annual patent applications maintain 20% to 30% growth. So far, it has filed over 28,000 patent applications which provide strong support for manufacturing of C919.
   
"Competition in intellectual property rights represents competition in international industrial capabilities. The successful rolling out of C919 has improved the competitiveness of China manufacturing industry, making a big step forward in China manufacturing." said Zhang Shuguang, the professor at Beihang University.
   
"We have been accelerating the R&D with self-owned IPRs and strived to facilitate manufacturing of C919 with better technologies."Wang Guangqiu, deputy director of COMACT R&D center told the reporter that the aero-engine, "CJ-1000", specifically designed for home-made large aircraft is under research. Improvements have been carried out in parts, systems, materials to make our domestic large airliner fly to the blue sky as soon as possible.
   
"During the process from "Made in China"to"Created in China", we need to have more products with self-IPRs in a bid to introduce more high-tech and complicated products to the outside world."Zhang Shuguang emphasized.
