Further Crackdowns on Pornographic Publications Urged

The publicity chief of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday demanded efforts to crack down on pornographic and illegal publications to safeguard national cultural security.

Liu Qibao, head of the publicity department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a national conference on fighting against pornographic and illegal publications.

Liu said websites that contain pornographic or vulgar content should be harshly cracked down on and national campaigns should be launched to fight fake news reporting and blackmailing with threat of media exposure.

He also urged efforts to protect the right of intellectual property and crack down on piracy and patent infringement.
