Authorized Software Use in 80% Municipal Governments Enforced in Advance

On October 11 and 12, 2013, Government Agency Authorized Software Use Meeting was held in Beijing. According to the meeting, the examination and rectification at central and provincial level had been accomplished in May, 2011 and June, 2012 respectively. As of the end of August this year, authorized software used in 89.25% of the municipal governments and 70.26% of the county governments had been enforced ahead of time. Yan Xiaohong, deputy director of the National Copyright Administration of China, said in the meeting that it was a long-term task to use licensed software and the key was to perfect the mechanism of software legalization.

According to the meeting, 14 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shandong, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Ningxia had completed the  examination and rectification at municipal and county level ahead of time. Yan Xiaohong stressed that governments at all level should implement the Management Method of Licensed Software Use and assume the responsibility to build a specific and long-term working mechanism.
