Themed "Innovation and Creation", the Eighth China International Patent Fair is to be held at the World Expo Square in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning province, from Sep 15 to 17, 2012.

The fair will consist of exhibitions and themed activities, according to the Dalian Intellectual Property Office. The exhibition area will cover nearly 30,000 square meters and 1,000 standard booths will be set.

Various themed activities will be held during the fair, including project promotions, docking discussions, forums and summits, lectures, product release, signing ceremonies, and project investigations. For the first time, an online exhibition will synchronously display the fair while the real one is underway.

The China International Patent Fair, co-sponsored by the State Intellectual Property Office, the Liaoning Government and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, has been held seven times since 2002. The Dalian municipal government started to organize this fair in 2004. A total of over 8,000 enterprises from more than 30 countries and regions as well as roughly 70,000 patents have participated in past fairs.

The organization committee for this fair will provide a two-year free online exhibition for the exhibited projects. Free services of storage, preparation for exhibition, handing and carrying, product release conferences and signing ceremonies will also be available for exhibitors. More policy and capital support will be arranged for the signed projects.

The fair will first make use of the Internet to realize an online exhibition together with the real exhibition. Information can be released on the official website of the patent fair (www.cipf.cn), which breaks the space and time barrier and makes the fair more accessible for people.
