The 40th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva kicked off here Wednesday, with a record 789 exhibitors from 46 countries showing 1,000 inventions. The five-day event is expected to attract some 60,000 visitors.
A total of 20 exhibitors with 26 inventions from China participate the event.
The exhibition, one of the most important invention shows in the world, will put on display inventions in more than 14 categories, including medicine and health care, industrial processes, electronics and computer sciences, protection of the environment, sports and leisure, and games and toys.
Visitors may see the most sophisticated golf simulator in the world, a robot with GPS to fight against fires, an automatic system for exchanging gold for cash, a ball which protects the health of people in an environment with Wi-Fi and other sources of electromagnetic pollution, etc.
An international jury composed of 85 experts will examine each invention and selected the best inventions for the 54 special prizes, which will be announced on Friday.
Statistics show that each year, more than 45 percent of inventions exhibited at the Geneva International Exhibition are the object of licensing contracts and in 40 years, thousands of inventions have been marketed thanks to the exhibition.
