IPR Judicial Protection Delivers Palpable Achievements after 10 Years of WTO Accession

This year witnessed the 10th anniversary of China's accession to the WTO, China's IPR protection made a significant progress in the past ten years. According to the Supreme People's Court (SPC), first-instance IPR civil cases soared from only 5,265 in 2001 to 42,931 in 2010, almost tripled in the past ten years, growing at an annual rate of more than 26%. The growth rate of IPR civil cases of first instance SPC received has exceeded 30% above four years continuously since 2007 which hit 40% in 2010.

During the period from January to October this year, the national court system received 52,708 civil cases related to IPR at first instance, up 42.2%, among which, 60% of the case are related to copyright.
