Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan presided a work conference held for the nationwide campaign on combating IPR violations and production and distribution of fake and shoddy products in Qingdao of Shandong province recently. IPR strategy is a national strategy, which is vital for securing innovative activities and transformation of way of economic development. Government agencies should prepare a long-term plan for IPR protection, play tough on serious cases and step up efforts to crack down on infringement of IPR, he stressed.

The ongoing campaign has processed more than 100,000 cases in IPR infringement and counterfeiting nationwide and severely punished criminals in the past five months. He also noted local authorities should be more aggressive in policing software piracy, counterfeiting and online IPR violations and establish a long-term mechanism for IPR protection in the near future and  intensify their efforts in cracking down on violations of IPR.
