On November 18, SIPO logged its filing meter at 1,000,925, marking the first one million filings received by the Chinese patent authority within a single calendar year,of which are  323,266 inventions, 337,659 utility models and 340,000 designs, representing 32.3%, 33.7% and 34% respectively.

According to statistics from SIPO, China's patent annual applications have  doubled every five year since 1996. The first 100,000 annual applications were made in 1996, and then this record increased to 200,000 in 2001. After SIPO received its first 500,000 annual applications in 2006, and 1 million filings was brought about this year.
