Wen Jiabao Calls to Step up IPR Protection

During a teleconference held by the State Council on the nation's intellectual property protection and law enforcement on November 5, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao stressed that efforts should be exerted to step up IPR protection and to fight against IPR infringements while authorities should continue to encourage innovation, effectively commercialize and protect the IPR and should also be administrated with scientific principle. The teleconference was held following the State Council's recent decision on launching a half year long national campaign to crack down on violations of intellectual property rights and on the production and distribution of fake and shoddy products from October to next March.


To supervise the campaign, the State Council has set up a leading group led by Vice Premier Wang Qishan, vice director of the group are Minister of Ministry of Commerce Chen Deming, Deputy Secretary General of the state Council Bi Jingquan and SIPO Commissioner Tian Lipu. Members of the group include senior officials from China's ministries and administrations.
