An evaluation meeting for the 12th Chinese Patent Award was held on October 14. After intense examination and vote, Huawei Technologies' communication system of smooth expansion and other 14 invention and utility model patent projects were on the gold medal list to be announced for public review. Lenovo's U110 notebook and other 4 design projects also entered. Some 234 patent projects will be announced for public scrutiny for a week starting from October 15.

After the conclusion of preliminary round, jurors will eventually select 15 gold projects for invention and utility model and 181 excellence projects, together with 5 gold design projects and 33 excellence projects.
