According to the latest statistics from SIPO, compared with decrease in invention patent filing from abroad for the first time, China’s domestic invention patent filing continued its high-speed momentum in 2009, dwarfing 7.6 times over those in 2001.

In 2009, SIPO received a total of 314,573 invention patent applications, up 8.5％ than 289,838 in 2008, 229,096 of which were from domestic (including Hong Kong,  Macao and Taiwan), representing 72.8％ of the total, up 17.7% over the previous year from 194,579. At the same time, 85,477 were filed from abroad, representing 27.2％, down 10.3% over the previous year of 95,259.

Expert from IPR field stated that efforts should be striven to foster more enterprises with independent IPR advantage and to improve domestic patent quality.
