Measures to Regulate COC IPRs to Be AnnouncedMeasures to Regulate COC IPRs to Be Announced

A meeting on protection of Olympics IPRs was held in Beijing on October 13. According to the meeting, the measures for using and administration of Olympic symbols will be announced in a bid to regulate the IPRs managed by Chinese Olympics Committee (COC) after 2008 Beijing Olympics. Under the pertaining rules, BOCOG has transferred the IPRs to International Olympic Committee (IOC) before its disbandment.  The Trademark Office under the State Administration of Industry and Commerce changed relevant registrations of right holder accordingly from BOCOG to IOC, according to an official of COC.

Benefiting from experiences gained from the Beijing Olympic Games, China has shaped a proper framework for protection of Olympic IPRs based on Regulations on the Protection of Olympic Symbols, which not only shows China's determination in IPR protection, but also becomes a integral component of China's laws and regulations on IPR protection.
