The National Training Course on IPR Protection of Traditional Knowledge (TK) was held on May 20 in Zhengzhou, Henan.  According to a senior SIPO official, the event launches the full implementation of the pilot programs of TK protection in 12 counties nationwide.  

The programs initiated in 2008.  SIPO approved three counties to be the primary testers, Shexian (Anhui), Yuzhou (Henan) and Sandu Shui Nationaility Autonomous County (Guizhou).  With recent approval of the second group of nine counties including Lijiang (Yunnan) and Kangding (Sichuan).
