Supreme Court, Procuratorate Vow to Bolster IPR Judicial Protection

The presidium of the second session of the 11th NPC holds its third meeting on March 10. Both Supreme Court chief Wang Shengjun and Supreme Procuratorate chief Cao Jianming promised to beef up IPR judicial protection in 2009.
In 2008, courts of law across the nation resolved 28,000 IPR cases, up 32.58%.  Wang attributes the efficiency to constant refinement of trial techniques, staffing and enlargement of courts with IPR jurisdiction (from 109 to 133) and new holistic approach of protection.  The Supreme Court plans to take a cautious approach in handling cases caused by international financial crisis, to offer judicial advice on preventing and resolving relevant issues and to intensify protection.

Cao also vows to step up protection and strike IPR crimes in a bid to safeguard smooth and fluid development of economy.
