According to China Copyright Protection Center, China's computer software copyright registration continued to maintain rapid growth last year. The total number of copyright registration reached 49,087, up 91.25 %.   Software copyright registration amounted to 47,398, with an increase of 93.3%.

In addition, there were 144 registrations of software copyright transfer and license, 109 registrations of software copyright pledge and 1,436 alteration registrations, up 200%, 9% and 43.6% respectively.  Surprisingly, software registration was still in high gear from September to December given the economic slowdown in the second half.  The 2008 total matched the combination of 2006 and 2007.  The top 5 provinces for software copyright registration were Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
